Description

Today's airbrushed style pinup photo is another in the Aviation Pinup series featuring Christina and the Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress. First flight pf the B-17 was way back in July of 1935. With thirteen .50 caliber machine guns (ANM2 Browning) and capable of holding over 8,000 pounds of bombs, this massive 36,000 pound bomber could fly over 35,000 feet into the skies with a max distance of 2,000 miles. The B-17 was powered by four Wright R-1820-97 Cyclone turbo supercharged radial engines that provided 1,200 horsepower each. Over 8,600 B-17G models were produced during the war with the B-17 finally being retired in 1968 with the Brazilian Air Force being the last to use them.

I love the way her outfit picks up on the themes of actual WW2 US(A)AF equipment and the USAAF roundel. It might have been even better to use an earlier B-17, say a D model, with USAAF markings rather than the stars and bars?
