Aviation Poster Series - B-17 Flying Fortress

Description

Pinups resume tomorrow! Trying something new out, posting the first 'non-pinup' aviation poster! Today's aviation image is another in the Aviation Poster Series! Combining real photographs of aircraft with the Dietz Dolls Propaganda Poster Series art style, you get this new series of 'digital artwork' celebrating the classic 'Keep'Em Flying' posters of World War 2. The second poster in the series features the Lyon Air Museum's beautiful B-17G Flying Fortress and the Army Air Forces. The B-17 Flying Fortress is probably one of the most recognizable aircraft of all time. Many would say there's something romantic about this weapon of war that paved the way deep into Germany during World War 2. One of the main reasons it has become such an aviation legend is the B-17 named 'Memphis Belle' which not only was the subject of a documentary during the war but also the first crew to make 25 missions and be sent home to tour the country in the Belle and promote buying war bonds. Over 12,700 B-17s were built during its service life.

Definitely a "G" thing, bro. Excellent work and great choice for the first bird-only pinup. Not only was she the first four engine "modern" bomber (she served from Pearl to the last days) she could take more abuse than Anything else.
